During the first year as a Doctoral student at Alliance Manchester Business School, you are required to complete advanced supervised research and structured training in research methods and skills.

This section outlines the requirements and the options that are available to you.

Structure and Assessment: outlines which Pathways are available; how many credits you need in order to progress onto your second year; and how the grades obtained in the Research Training Programme feed into your Annual Review.  

Please note that the core course Research Process is a compulsory course and must be taken together with two further core courses - this is for all Business and Management PhD students except 1+3 students who have completed Research Process as part of their MRes requirements, 1+3 students will only be required to complete two core modules.
