Student Study Space

Student Study Space

1st Year students have access to the 1st Year Doctoral Suite (Room 3.1 AMBS Crawford), where a cluster of 22 PCs is available on a hot-desking basis, alongside printing facilities and storage lockers.

In Years 2 and 3, you will normally be allocated a dedicated personal working space, PC and access to other facilities located within your Division. This space will be allocated to you by the Doctoral Programmes Office for one of the following locations: Room C1 AMBS East, AMBS Crawford and Sackville Street building.

Students who are registered for the Submission Pending period or who are waiting for their viva examination will normally have hot-desking access to workspace and IT facilities.  Occasionally, students may be provided with dedicated personal workspace, subject to availability.

All PCs available to Doctoral students are desktop PCs which run pre-loaded software approved by the School.  All students are also provided with access to the School’s server (P drive) where it is recommended that data is stored.

In addition, all students have access to workspace and clusters in the wider University.

Housekeeping

Each month, a member of the Doctoral Programmes Office will inspect the spaces to ensure that they are being used purely for study purposes, and to check that computer hardware remains in situ (i.e. one monitor, one tower, etc per study space).

The guidance below has been prepared to summarise the Facilities, Housekeeping and Support available to you while you are studying with us.  Please refer to it if you are in any doubt about these services.
