Library and Resources

The University of Manchester Library

The University of Manchester Library provides you with the resources and support you need throughout your programme, specifically:

  • Precinct Library: The satellite library for all your business and management essential text books, with multiple copies of all new editions of core and useful texts.

  • Dover Street:  The facility has dedicated PCs offering access to specialist financial databases including Bloomberg and Datastream. Drop-in research consultation sessions are offered twice a week, where you can bring your business data enquiry to an expert.

Getting Started

You will need your student card to access all library sites around campus. Many of our services and resources also require you to confirm that you are a registered student. This authentication can be your student card, the ID number on the card, your Library PIN, the central username and password you use to log on, or a combination of these.

There are library guides for business and management students, providing all of the latest information on resources and learning and research services available. This is a good starting point if you are looking for any library resources or information related to your course.

Study space

  • Precinct Library offers individual study space options and computer clusters, with Wi-Fi availability throughout the building. There are also 3 group study rooms, all of which are bookable online via MyManchester.
  • Additional study spaces are available at the Main Library and Alan Gilbert Learning Commons

Specialist database support

The Library provides a range of both database training sessions and regular drop-in clinics to support students in use of the range of specialist financial databases such as Datastream and Bloomberg. These are detailed and updated regularly here.

Research Data Management

Research Data Management is part of good research practice and will help you complete your research efficiently. Before the start of your research project you must complete a Data Management Plan in DMPonline. Training on Research Data Management is available in person and online via My Research Essentials. There is more information on the Research Data Management website or you can send any questions to
