Doctoral Research Support Allowance

Doctoral Research Support Allowance

Most doctoral students in Alliance MBS registered on the standard period of their programme are eligible for a Doctoral Research Support Allowance (DRSA).  The allowance is intended to be used to pay for expenses which the student and supervisory team deem to be in direct support of the student’s research, e.g. attendance at conferences, travel to fieldwork etc.

PhD students registered on the standard period of the programme are eligible to claim for expenses to support their research over the period of their standard programme as follows:

Full-time rates:

DRSA available

£3000 over the 3-year Programme (for students commencing their studies in 2018/19).

£2000 over the 3-year Programme (for students who commenced their studies before 2018/19).

£500 for the 1-year Programme

Part-time students will receive a pro rata allowance based on the above full-time rates.

Students entering Submission Pending will not have access to DRSA but may apply to the additional funding scheme for presentation at conferences.

Full guidance on claims and allowances can be found below.
